Mon, January 19, 2009 - 5:10 PMThe central discussion group for Seatthe-area burners is the BCWA yahoo group:
groups.yahoo.com/group/burningman-bcwa
Every Tuesday there's an open potluck at the Grratitude house:

B/IAS (Burian Interim Art Space) is a project that's opening this weekend. A bunch of burners have been putting a lot of effort into bringing Burning Man art projects to this space, such as The Passage, that's located in downtowb Burian. See www.interim-art-space.com/

Re: Burner related events in Seattle?
Mon, January 19, 2009 - 8:36 PMI'll be at the potluck tomorrow. Say hi. I'm bringing a whole 10 lb ham!
It's a pretty chill time. There's new people there all the time, so it's not unusual at all. There's usually a theme, which in most cases we more-or-less ignore. :)

Re: Burner related events in Seattle?
Mon, January 19, 2009 - 10:27 PMHi Heather - I"m relatively new to Seattle as well (5 mos) and I'll be at the potluck tomorrow too - only my second visit. Hopefully I'll see you there (look for the short, pink-haired girl)!
There's also the opening of the B/IAS artspace this Saturday, which is sure to draw a huge burner crowd. You should check out the calendar posted on ignitionnw.org/. It lists the regular events.

Re: Burner related events in Seattle?
Wed, January 21, 2009 - 7:06 PMFWIW, there was a call out earlier today on the BCWA yahoo group (mentioned above) looking for people who can help out TONIGHT getting B/IAS finished. I can't make it but I may help out sometime tomorrow. Anyway, here's the posting, if you can offer a hand, like, NOW, that would be teh awesome. And we'll all think you're totally awesome and shower you with love. or beer. or both.
Here's the message from Kay:
------------
Hi everyone. Sorry for the big blasts of BIAS info, but so much is happening, and this is such a big project that we are scrambling to pull it together.
I just got off the phone with Gary, who is the lead rigger for The Passage, and he and Dan das Mann are down in Burien and are in need of some additional labor. They got off to a bit of a late start today, and are scrambling to get back on schedule (did i mention this is a burning man type event?). Are you sitting around today wondering what you can do to make the world 98% more AWESOME? Well this is your chance.
Here's the story: the footing for The Passage needs to be complete by 9am tomorrow, so that the rigging can be set, and the scuplture lowered into place. Dan is planning to work on it until it is done tonight. It is going to be a lot of shoveling and moving dirt, so that the footing can be set.
This has to be done before the physical installation can start.
Do you have an hour of time today or tonight to help? Do you have some friends who were going to play Axis & Allies tonight, but instead could toughen up by shoveling some dirt for art?
These fine folks would not have called for help if they really did not need it. Can you lend a hand? Do you have a shovel?
If you would like contact info for Gary please let me know and I will pass his number on to you.
Any help you can offer will be tremendous.
Thanks.
